Absorbable suture

Absorbable suture

When it comes to sutures, the most current technique involves the absorbable surgical thread. As I have learnt in April 2013, with the help of this surgical thread the healing of cut wounds will further improve.

We have been using it since May 2013 at the Best of You Clinic, and only after two months it was obvious that the results exceeded our expectations. It is a well-known fact, that for good wound healing many components are necessary: blood supply to the wound, nerve and to release of tension, also clear cut edges and suture inserted into appropriate layers of the skin.

So what improved this healing lately?

The development of specially serrated absorbable suture, which allows the edges of the wound to straighten, the size of the wound can be decreased and there is no need for suture removal. I had the opportunity to attend the American Congress of Plastic Surgery in April 2013, where several prominent speakers have shared their own experiences and reported on the benefits of these threads. A few weeks later, I had the opportunity to try this cutting-edge technique in practice at the American Hospital of Istanbul.
